About Mayra

Mayra Gazel is a social entrepreneur and safety education expert committed to making safety accessible to all.

She is a Teaching Fellow at Harvard University in the Human Development and Education Entrepreneurship programmes, and an Associate Instructor at Columbia University, in International Non-Governmental Organizations.

Believing that everyone deserves access to safety education, Mayra founded a platform designed to empower young people with critical safety skills. Before that, she launched her first nonprofit aged eighteen, leading it for eight years to expand safety education opportunities.

Mayra holds an EdM in Education Leadership, Organizations, and Entrepreneurship with a concentration in Early Childhood from Harvard University, an MS in Nonprofit Management from Columbia University, and a BA (Hons) in Fashion Communication from the Condé Nast College of Fashion and Design.

With a multidisciplinary approach to safety, she is trained in Self-Defense Instruction, Human Rights, Sexual Assault Support, Blast and Trauma First Aid, Applied Suicide Intervention, Youth Mental Health First Aid, ESG and Social Activism, and Explosive Ordnance Disposal.
